There are two types of people in this world, the Whys and the Why Nots. In this episode, we discuss these two types of people so you can identify which type you are and see who you are surrounding yourself with. Don't confuse this with your purpose, which is often called your why.
Why people are those who are constantly asking why you would do something. Sometimes, the internal voices in your head are asking you why you would do something. Often, we are also surrounded by people who question what we do. Have you ever heard these things, either from yourself or the people around you?
Those are the Why people. These people are constantly questioning your actions. Typically, this happens because they can't think as big as you can. Why people are generally not dreamers, and put others down for being dreamers. These are the people in our lives, and sometimes the own voices in our heads, that make us question what we do and squash our dreams.
Most successful small business owners are Why Not people. The Why Nots are people who dream big, and encourage others to dream big. Why Not people are people who try new things. They start new businesses and develop new products. Are there people around you who ask you these types of questions?
Why Nots are the ones you want to surround yourself with when you do a launch. They will feed your passion.
We all have Why people in our lives. Limit how much information you share with those people. The more you share with them, the more opportunity you are giving them to question what you are doing. Most of the Whys are not intentionally trying to tear you down. Many times, they feel they are just trying to get you to be realistic. Why Nots don't have time for that. As a business owner, you shouldn't have time for that either. You can spend time with Whys but don't share details of your dream if you think they are going to tear your down.
Find opportunities to find Why Nots on your life. Join our Facebook group, find business groups with like-minded people, find conferences like the Launch Out Conference or Podcast Movement. Surround yourself with people who will support your goals.
